It can be very difficult to step outside and feel gorgeous when your hair is thinning. According to the American Academy of Dermatology Association, we typically lose between 50 to 100 strands of hair everyday as it is. What makes matters worse is that the causes of thinning hair have a wide range. Everything from diet, genetics or stress can be the cause of thinning tresses or lead to traction alopecia. The disorder affects more than 1/3 of Black women and 17% of Black girls between the ages of 6 and 21, according to the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology.

The challenge of styling your hair so that you can hide its thinning makes dealing with this even more difficult. But we’ve got you covered with a few looks to rock that will keep you feeling like the baddie you truly are!

A blow out is guaranteed to give you that voluminous look no matter what your hair type is! If you choose to keep your long hair, then a blow out is an amazing go to.

After you wash you hair, make sure to grab your favorite rollers and wrap sections of your hair around each. You may have to sit under the dryer for about an hour or more depending on its power.

When your roots are dry, that’s when you can come out from under and breathe. When you unravel your rollers, get a handheld blow dryer and a thermal brush just to smooth out those roots. Then you’re all done! You can style any way you want from here!

Rod sets are always a good way to keep volume as well! You can grab your favorite flexi rods, perm rod or any curling device and separate your favorite setting lotion.

From there, you should part your hair into tiny sections (pro tip: the tinier the section, the better). Grab your first section and work a small amount of the lotion into it then begin to wrap the hair around the rod. When you are wrapping, make sure to not coil your hair tightly around it or else your hair won’t end up being big and bouncy! Once you are done, you can either sit in it over night or sit under the dryer for about an hour.

When you’re ready to unravel your hair, just make sure it’s fully dry. Unravel, separate your curls, fluff and you’re good to go!

When you’re ready to take the jump to cut your hair, the pixie cut is the the way to go! This cut is a very edgy way to show how fine you are. The variety of hairstyles that a pixie cut can transform into transcends imagination. And the possibilities are endless.

The TWA is a go to for a low maintenance style. You can dye it any color you’d want and it would still turn out to be an amazing look on just about anyone! Just make sure to moisturize often, but other than that it’s very simple up keep. You can just wake up, splash some water on it and go!
