Oh yes, ma’am! Ari Lennox is back and she is applying that pressure. The R&B vixen is giving us music to go into cuffing season with confidence. Her new single, aptly titled, “Pressure” is a new sound without deviating from her perfect ability to execute a soulful bop. The blast from the past video features Ari channeling the likes of Donna Summer, Diana Ross and girl groups of the 2000s while giving us all the melanin we can stand. Fans have been waiting for a new solo effort from the D.C. native after hearing her feature alongside Jazmine Sullivan, Queen Naija and others over the past few years. And she did not disappoint. Written and produced alongside heavy hitters Jermaine Dupri, Johnta Austin and Bryan Michaell Cox, “Pressure” is definitely one we’ll have in rotation.

We love the direction her new music seems to be headed as she also posted a photo of herself in the studio with iconic songwriter, Babyface, earlier this summer and Missy Elliott shared some studio footage that seemed to suggest that the pair were working together.

Legends only? Heard you, Ari!

Lennox, like many women in the industry, has expressed her frustrations in the past regarding the response to everything from her appearance to her music and we love to see that she is still in the game! As such an incredible talent in music, we cannot wait for what the new era of Ari has in store. Not to mention, the lewks we KNOW will be served.
