One year later, Beyoncé is making sure her Black Is King visual album is still getting its flowers. In honor of the film's anniversary, the global superstar dropped two new music videos for “Mood 4 Eva” and “OTHERSIDE" to continue the album's brilliant rollout. The seven-minute long video for “Mood 4 Eva” features appearances from her husband Jay-Z, Childish Gambino and Oumou Sangaré, while "OTHERSIDE" includes a few glimpses of her twins Rumi and Sir.

“A year later and the impact is still a mood 4 eva,” is what a fan commented under the "Mood 4 Eva" video. “That’s what Black culture is…impactful in every aspect of the word.” So far both videos have garnered well over one million views on YouTube and counting.

Black Is King was released as a visual film and album last year to coincide with Disney’s The Lion King. The film featured numerous high-profile cameos from people like Blue Ivy, Pharrell Williams, Naomi Campbell, Lupita Nyong’o, Wizkid, Kelly Rowland and more. While it did get a huge snub for its hairstyling from the 2021 Emmy Awards, its impact is still recognized for showcasing the beauty of Blackness and Africa, especially at a time where Black experiences needed more amplifying.

“'Black Is King' is a labor of love. It is my passion project that I have been filming, researching and editing day and night for the past year," Beyoncé wrote in an Instagram post last year announcing the film. "I’ve given it my all and now it’s yours. It was originally filmed as a companion piece to “The Lion King: The Gift” soundtrack and meant to celebrate the breadth and beauty of Black ancestry. I could never have imagined that a year later, all the hard work that went into this production would serve a greater purpose."

“The events of 2020 have made the film’s vision and message even more relevant, as people across the world embark on a historic journey," she continued. "We are all in search of safety and light. Many of us want change. I believe that when Black people tell our own stories, we can shift the axis of the world and tell our REAL history of generational wealth and richness of soul that are not told in our history books.”
