Are you tired of not having enough energy even if you get a good night's sleep during the week?  Well, the answer to all of your problems might be in your kitchen.

Supplements are great for boosting energy, but you don't want to depend on them.  Food can actually aid in boosting energy, and healthy foods such as lean proteins, nuts, fruits, and vegetables are just a few that will provide the pick-me-up that you need.

Here are a few more energy-boosting foods for great health.

Brown Rice

This food is high in fiber and it contains manganese, a mineral that is responsible for helping enzymes break down carbs.  Because of this, brown rice is low on the glycemic index and it keeps your blood sugar levels normal.  As a result, your energy will increase. You can eat brown rice with beans, in soups, or as a rice pudding.

Eggs

Instead of eating pancakes or French toast for breakfast, substitute eggs with bacon.  Eggs are high in protein, and this means more energy for you during the day.  Two healthy ways to prepare eggs are to boil them or poach them.  You can eat eggs in a vegetable salad, on top of whole-grain toast, or with fried ham for breakfast.  Eggs are abundant in B vitamins,  and vitamins break down food for increased energy.

Oatmeal

Oatmeal contains beta-glucan, a fiber that creates a thick gel when blended with water.  When this fiber enters your digestive system, it delays the emptying of food from your stomach.  Because of this, you feel full longer and you'll experience a boost in energy.  If you add other high-fiber fruits such as berries or citrus fruits to the oatmeal, you'll experience amazing health benefits.

Avocados

One reason why avocados are an energy-boosting superfood is that they're high in monosaturated and polyunsaturated fats as well as B vitamins.  These fats absorb your body's nutrients well and it leads to improved energy.  Try eating avocados on whole-grain toast with fresh lettuce.  Another idea would be to prepare a tuna-avocado salad for lunch.

Strawberries

The carbs and fiber inside of strawberries are helpful in boosting your energy levels.  And because of the antioxidants that are in strawberries, you can fight off fatigue.
