We can’t help but feel good whenever we see some serious #BlackGirlMagic, so just imagine how we felt when hearing that 19 black women are judicial candidates in Harris County, Texas. A photo of these queens has gone viral, inspiring women of color all around the world. One of the candidates, Judge LaShawn Williams, shared the photo on a Facebook post with a caption that read:

"I’ve waited for the reveal of this photo of 19 judicial candidates for several weeks — 19 Black women running for judge in Harris County, Houston, TX. This entire time I’ve thought of what I’d say the day we were able to share this moment in history with everyone. But really I’m humbled. Never did I imagine that the day I decided to run to be judge, I’d become a part of a club of phenomenal Black women, sisters-in-law, gifted, brilliant, strong — everything I hope to be! It is with great pride and excitement that I share this 'Black Girl Magic' with you! Congratulations — you are truly black girl magic!"

According to The Shade Room, the candidates have been reported to be the largest number of African American women to have ever been on a voting ballot in Harris County, Texas. The candidates created a website which allows voters to learn more about each candidate, commit to voting this election season and shares some more information about the Black Girl Magic Texas campaign they’ve started.

On the website’s campaign page, it states that "there are 19 qualified and intelligent African American women running for various judicial seats in this November’s election." The candidates are stressing the importance of voting straight Democrat on the ballet to ensure that these women are elected.

These candidates have already made history by running, however, it would help push the envelope if they're elected. Moments like these help young black girls and women see representation in positions and places of power — this allows for more inspiration and motivation to keep working towards those positions. What's better than a future run by black women? Don't worry, we can wait! Don't forget to commit to voting in this November's election.
