Working our bodies into a sweat has many benefits, it is good for our skin, increases our energy levels and of course, reduces stress and releases "happy" pheromones. But, it can also lead to some other issues. Acne. I'm talking acne on the face, back, legs, anywhere we can sweat really.
This is due to what sweat does to our pores (thanks sports bras and trapped heat). So instead of heading to the store and buying some fancy makeup wipe that is probably filled with harsh chemicals, why not make your own? When you don’t have time to shower, these DIY face wipes are the absolute best to keep on hand for a post-exercise wipedown of your face and body.
Inspired by these Anthropologie Detox Wipes, we are going to be using main ingredients like witch hazel and aloe to really help our skin out. Witch hazel has so many fantastic skin benefits from reducing inflammation and tightening pores to its refreshing cooling effect. Aloe vera is high in antioxidants, enzymes, Vitamins A and C. And, if you have oily prone skin, these wipes will be perfect for you.
What You'll Need:
– Witch hazel (any brand should do)
– Dried roses for infusing
– Cotton face pads
– Jar with Lid
1. Grab a jar and combine a cup of witch hazel with about 1/2 cup of dried roses.
2. Screw the lid on tight and let it rest for at least one to two weeks in a cool, dry area of your house. The longer it sits, the stronger the benefits sis.
3. When you’re ready to make the face pads, gently strain out the rose pieces, and then you will see a sweet, creamy red texture. That's how you know the witch hazel is present.
