The bond between a mother and daughter is inseparable. Known for their incredibly strong genes, these mother-daughter duos resemble each other, and the mother’s talent was definitely passed onto their daughters. In honor of National Daughters Day this year, here are eight of our favorite mother-daughter duos.
Nico Parker & Thandiwe Newton
16-year-old Nico Parker is nearly identical to her mother Thandiwe Newton, and she’s getting an early start to an acting career like Newton. Parker, recently starred in Disney’s live action version of Dumbo.
Zoe Kravitz & Lisa Bonet
This rockstar duo are basically twins, and they’ve won our hearts multiple times for their roles in High Fidelity, Big Little Lies and A Different World. Although their roles are always vastly different, we love any chance to see a family photo of Zoe, Lisa and Lenny Kravitz.
Willow Smith, Adrienne Banfield Norris & Jada Pinkett Smith
The stars of Red Table Talk are clearly super comfortable with each other on camera, so we know their bond with each other must be strong. In an Instagram photo that Jada posted on June 28, she recalled her old heavy metal band Wicked Wisdom and said that Willow's band rehearsal made "nostalgia hit [them] both." For Mother's Day this year, Willow reunited her mom's old band to perform on Red Table Talk.
Beyoncé, Solange & Tina Knowles-Lawson
Queen Bey, Solo and Tina are mother-daughter goals! In an interview with CBS This Morning, Knowles-Lawson said that she passed her love of being Black and admiration for Juneteenth to her daughters. "I was careful to impart that message to my children as well to surround them with African American art and images that they didn't obviously see on TV or around as much as they should have," she said. "That's up to us parents to impart that knowledge to our children and pass it on." It's clear that Beyoncé and Solange intertwine Black culture into their life and music, so their mom did an excellent job
Jillian Hervey & Vanessa Williams
Singer Jillian Hervey is half of the R&B group Lion Babe, and she happens to be the daughter of legendary artist Vanessa Williams. Hervey is the second oldest daughter of Williams, and she definitely inherited the talent in the family. The duo graced the cover of Essence in 2017 as Williams rocked a classic body wave style and Hervey embraced her lovely golden locks.
Tracee Ellis Ross & Diana Ross
Talk about talent running in the family! During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Tracee shared her admiration for her mother while recreating an iconic photo from Diana's past. "I had this necklace, of hers and I think it was a necklace attached to a jumpsuit she wore in Mahogany, and I have always said, every time I see the picture, I'm like 'Oh my god I have that necklace!', Tracee said.
Malia Obama, Sasha Obama & Michelle Obama
The former First Lady and mother of two shared in an interview with CBS This Morning that she's so "excited for her girls' next chapters," since they are both over 20 and studying at school. During an interview with People, Michelle shared that she was grateful for the girls having more time to spend at home during the pandemic.
Yara Shahidi & Keri Shahidi
If there was an award for being the splitting image of your mom, Yara would win. The pair recently launched their own production company, 7th Sun. In an interview with Harper's Bazaar, they described their moment collaborating on the creation of the company as something they "couldn't do without each other."
