Ever since she stole our hearts as Suzanne “Crazy Eyes” Warren on the hit show Orange Is The New Black, Uzo Aduba has had our full attention. Since the show’s end, she’s taken on a variety of different characters including the lead in HBO’s revived classic, In Treatment, in which she plays Dr. Brooke Taylor; a role that Aduba says helped her cope with the grief of losing her mother late last year. "It's never easy to lose anyone. It's certainly not easy to hold proximity to a loss when your character is experiencing a similar loss," she said on PEOPLE (the TV Show!) in May. "I thank HBO a thousand times for giving the space that was needed to help start that process. I think that it's challenging, but what I know is that it was also deeply healing at the same time.” But it seems like 2020 wasn’t only full of hard times for the actress, she recently shared a post of herself with filmmaker Robert Sweeting celebrating their one year anniversary.

We love to see the girls owning their personal narratives.

The pair wed last year in a secret ceremony in New York and have been in bridal bliss, privately, since. Uzo opened up about their love for the first time by way of a touching Instagam post, "For some of us, it can feel like we spend our whole lives waiting for our special someone. My heart, my love — I'm so happy my life started last year with you. You're the best thing that ever happened to me," she wrote. Sweeting, 41, also had his own message of appreciation and adoration for his wife. “One year ago I married this gorgeous, talented and incredible woman,” his photo caption read. “This past year has made me appreciate the fragile nature of life and the importance of living it. At a time where the world is upside down, we learned to find joy and peace in each other. You are the greatest person I’ve ever known and I’m proud to be your husband. #happyanniversary.”

We cannot take how cute they are! Aduba may also be taking home some additional hardware as she’s nominated for an Emmy for her portrayal of the aforementioned Taylor on In Treatment. If she wins, this award will join her two others for OITNB.
