“Black is anything but basic. It is classic. It is chic. It is timeless.”

The 2022 Emmy’s served looks for days. From Zendaya’s beautiful all-black “Audrey Hepburn” inspired gown to Lizzo’s firey red gown, fashion was definitely the topic of discussion.

For this year’s Emmy’s, Sheryl Lee Ralph was one of the many Black women to serve at the award ceremony, serving a look in what happens to be Brandon Blackwood’s first-ever designer gown.

The Dress Took About 4 Days To Make

According to Glamour, Sheryl’s dress took about 4 days to make before showcasing it at the Emmys.

“I flew straight from Tokyo to LA to meet Sheryl with the dresses,” Blackwood tells Glamour. The look took four days to make. “We did two sketches and ended up making two dresses. The dress is black velvet lined with duchesse satin. It’s our first gown ever.”

PairedWith A Signature Brandon Blackwood Trunk Bag

To pull the look off, Ralph paired her black Blackwood gown with a signature Trunk Bag made by Blackwood as well. The bag is covered with dazzling heat-stamped orange crystals.

“The ‘‘Abbott Elementary’ actor wore a body-hugging strapless gown with an orange inner lining that featured a daring high slit. The star, who’s up for best-supporting actress in a comedy series, paired the dress with one of Blackwood’s signature trunk bags covered in dazzling heat-stamped orange crystals,” as reported by Glamour.

Blackwood’s Clientele Includes Celebrities Such as Cassie, Saweetie, and Latto To Name A Few

And though Blackwood’s black gown was the first he ever designed, the notable accessories designer has set his mark on men and women alike with his trend-worthy bags. His clientele includes Saweetie, Cassie, Tessa Mae Thompson, Latto, and Naomi Smalls to name a few.
