The beginning of a new year is an excellent time for us all to start thinking about ways to refresh our wellness routines and lifestyle habits. Making mindful, micro-changes can lead to significant shifts in our overall health and wellbeing. Need help thinking beyond just New Year’s resolutions? Here are a few wellness resets to kick this new season off in the right direction:

Refresh your skin

This is a great time to toss out those expired eyeliners and lipsticks that have been accumulating dust throughout the year. It's also a good time for you to begin making better choices on how to take care of your skin. Choose natural products with high-quality ingredients, or better yet, make them yourself.

Declutter your closet

This is the time to pack up any old items that no longer serve your purpose, or that no longer wear. Donating your unused sweaters and high school jeans not only clears your space for better choices but also helps others. You might also want to clear out those cupboards and pantries, and see what objects are adding nothing but clutter and congestion to the energy in your home. Keep only what brings you joy then sell, donate, or repurpose anything that doesn’t.

Cleanse your space

Get the vacuum out, dust everything in your home (and I mean everything, sis), briefly open windows to allow cross-current air flow, and feel anew. A clean and organized space will provoke a clean and peaceful mind.

Get artsy

Creating art isn't just for professional artists and children, we are all creative individuals! Awaken your creative spirit with some good ol' fashioned arts and crafts session. Hit your local craft store, buy some supplies and don’t get too hung up on the outcome. Let the process be the purpose and have some fun, sis.

Start a new journal

The term "clean slate" also applies to journals. When you pick up a new notebook, set aside a moment at the end of your day to reflect and record your feelings and goals. This exercise can help make us more conscientious and aware of our thoughts and patterns. It can also help us realize areas where we need to grow so we can thrive.

Learn a new skill

It’s not only our bodies that can benefit from being reinvigorated; our brains need to be challenged as well. Join a book club, register for a cooking class, learn a new language or even sign up for online music lessons. Just exercise your mind.
