These plants need little upkeep to thrive in the highly humid and damp space that is your bathroom. Here are some parameters to keep in mind as you begin incorporating some new and fun plant decor your space.

The key ingredients to maintaining healthy plants are lighting, humidity, temperature, space and position. Even indoor plants require some light to grow, which is why fluorescent light bulbs – which produce the wavelengths plants need – are a good idea in the bathroom. They also need to be on the smaller side to make sure that they grow properly. It is also best to choose a tropical flower or plant due to the humidity emitted from showers, the Planet Natural Research Center states.

1. Aloe Vera

Like cacti, aloe plants or succulents do best in dry conditions. Aloe plants should not be watered too often and have to be planted in some sort of soil or sand with plenty of drainage holes, according to GardeningKnowHow.com.

Chinese Evergreen plants are native to tropical and subtropical regions of Asia and New Guinea. These are some of the easiest plants to care for because they are so low maintenance. This plant can tolerate poor light, dry air and drought, which makes it perfect for bathroom decor.

These plants can reach up to a height of four to five feet, so be sure you have enough room in your bathroom for them before you make a commitment! The biggest problem with these plants is too much moisture, so be sure to keep the plant well-drained.

7. Dracaena

Dracaena plants grow as tall as 6 to 10 feet, so preserving growth control by shaving the dead leaves off the older plants is essential. This will allow new growth. Also, make sure to not over-moisten the plant, as that can cause it not to grow properly.
