Beyoncé’s non-profit organization, BeyGOOD, donated $100K in scholarship funding to students in Detroit. The “Alien Superstar” singer recently performed in Detroit, but before tearing up the stage, she generously contributed to ten Detroit School Digital Technology students. In addition, anyone who attended the scholarship announcement event also received tickets to the Detroit concert.

“Your commitment to education and elevating your students and communities inspires us,” BeyGood announced. “To the Renaissance superstars, we appreciate you taking time out of your busy tour schedules to share your journeys. Your presence was a gift!”

Renaissance Generosity

After announcing her highly anticipated Renaissance World Tour, Beyoncé committed $1 million in scholarships to 10 colleges and universities worldwide. She donated the money as a part of her foundation’s Renaissance Scholars Program. The funds will support students with financial needs.

“Education has always been a focus pillar for Mrs. Carter,” the foundation said in a statement. “One hundred students will receive $10,000 scholarships.”

According to the official website, BeyGood has donated to Prairie View A&M University in Texas, Jackson State University, Alabama State University, Grambling State University, and Institut Français de la Mode in France. Furthermore, there are plans to donate to a college in Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.

BeyGood also recently awarded $10K to a Nigerian restaurant named Chukus.

About the Detroit School for Digital Technology

According to the school’s official website, The Detroit School for Digital Technology opened its door in 2011. The institution was originally named Astute Artistry and follows a traditional Film Production curriculum, but added Digital Media, Digital Graphics and Technology courses. In 2019, additional programs were added to the curriculum; thus, resulting in a name change.
