1. TEACH HER ABOUT HER HISTORY

One of the best ways to empower your daughter to embrace her Black girl magic is to tell her where she comes from. And we're not just talking about Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, or other prominent Black male figures. We're talking about strong Black women who preceded us. Tell your daughter about the powerful Black women who have fought and paved the way for her like Ida B. Wells, Sojourner Truth, and Alice Walker. The power and wisdom of these women who came before us will support your daughter's journey and help her realize what she's capable of.

2. TEACH HER ABOUT SELF-CARE

Good self-care is a source of power and strength, which is important in a world that requires strength. Teaching your daughter about self-care is also a great way to teach her how to value herself and be selfish. Sometimes Black women take on the burdens of others and forget to cope with their own issues, which often causes them to lose themselves in the process. Practicing good self-care helps Black girls realize that they matter too. Whether it's applying a rejuvenating face mask, soaking in a bubble bath, or getting a hot oil treatment, encourage your daughter to find what makes her happy and relaxed.

3. TEACH HER THAT SHE IS THE PERFECT SHADE

No matter your daughter's shade, show her how beautiful it is. Tell her that there's no such thing as too dark or too light, no matter what others say. It's important for your Black daughter to know that her shade is perfect.
