The stunning Danai Gurira graces the cover of Women's Health magazine for the July/August issue and she’s showcasing her ever-so-fit physique and discussing some important topics like working out and carving out time for self-care.

Gurira shared with Women’s Health that "creating ritualized time and space to nurture myself is something I’m constantly trying to figure out and develop." Her 'do not disturb' day happens to be on Sundays — a day to walk in nature, enjoy a friend’s company or even just a great meal.

The actress and activist has played some major roles, such as Okoye in Black Panther and Michonne on The Walking Dead, but she’s also the co-founder of a nonprofit organization, Almasi Arts, which helps support the dramatic arts in Zimbabwe. It doesn’t end there as the star is also currently adapting Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s award-winning novel Americanah into a TV miniseries.

Women’s Health complimented Gurira on her regal presence and the graceful way she carries herself and revealed that her secret to it all is a mixture of eating well, spiritual practice and some serious exercise.

Gurira has been training with AJ Fisher, practicing her method of 'Corectology' — a training method that aims to even out muscle imbalances while improving mobility, strength and cardiovascular function.

"Sometimes it’s so intense I can’t remember what we did," Gurira said.

Gurira's workouts include circuit training and moves inspired by Pilates. Throughout the workout sessions, Gurira wears a heart monitor and resistance bands, which the actress also brings with her to everywhere she travels so that she can ensure to get her workout in. AJ Fisher’s workouts also have a huge focus on paired muscle training so that your body learns to work as a unit.

Danai Gurira has always been a fit person. As a child she engaged in all sorts of sports and particularly loved swimming. She thoroughly enjoys working out.

"If I haven’t worked out, if I haven’t exercised and connected with my body in some way, it chips away at my feeling of well-being," she said to Women’s Health.

Gurira also encourages women to explore workouts and find joy in doing so.

"There’s no need to break records tomorrow. It’s just about slowly finding what feels good and what feels rewarding," shared the 40-year-old actress.
