When regular skincare products aren’t helping to improve your skin, try natural, DIY methods like matcha face masks.
Matcha is high in antioxidants and an anti-inflammatory. It is also rich in chlorophyll which aids in removing toxins from the skin. Teas like matcha can make less abrasive face masks than other ingredients.
Matcha as a skincare ingredient pairs well with honey. The latter is an anti-inflammatory as well as hydrating, soothing and anti-microbial.
Here’s a DIY matcha face mask recipe you can mix together with just a few ingredients.
1 teaspoon matcha green tea powder 1 teaspoon honey (raw honey works best for its antibacterial properties) 1–2 teaspoons yogurt or aloe vera gel (adds moisture and soothes irritation)
A few drops of rosewater or tea tree oil for added benefits.
In a small bowl, combine the matcha powder, honey and your choice of yogurt or aloe vera gel. Adjust the quantity to form a smooth, spreadable paste.
Wash your face with a gentle cleanser before patting it dry with a clean cloth.
Using clean fingers or a brush, apply an even layer of the mask to your face, avoiding the eyes and lips.
Leave the mask on for 10–15 minutes while you wind down and relax.
Gently rinse with lukewarm water and pat dry. Follow up with your favorite moisturizer.
Use this mask one to three times a week for glowing, healthy skin.
