DIY Protein Hair Mask

BY KRISTEN GARRIDO

If your hair feels dry, brittle or weak, it might be lacking protein. A hair mask can help rebuild and strengthen your strands from the inside out.

Follow this step-by-step guide to create your own mask at home, with ingredients you may already have in your kitchen!

In a small bowl, crack one egg and whisk it until fully mixed. Eggs are rich in protein, which will strengthen your hair.

Crack an Egg

Add two tablespoons of coconut oil to the egg mixture. This penetrates the hair shaft to moisturize from within.

Add Coconut Oil

Mix in one tablespoon of Greek yogurt. It hydrates your hair, smooths frizz and adds a natural shine.

Add Greek Yogurt

Whisk all ingredients together until you have a smooth, creamy consistency. Make sure the mixture is lump-free for easy application.

Mix Thoroughly

Using your fingers or a brush, apply the protein mask starting from your roots and working your way down to the tips. Ensure all strands are coated.

Apply the Mask

Once fully applied, cover your hair with a shower cap or plastic wrap to lock in the moisture and prevent the mask from drying out. Allow it to sit in your hair for 20-30 minutes.

Cover Your Hair

Rinse the mask out with lukewarm water, ensuring there’s no residue left. Be gentle as wet hair is more fragile.

Rinse Thoroughly

For best results, use this protein hair mask once a week to keep your hair strong, moisturized and shiny.

Repeat Weekly

Say goodbye to brittle strands and hello to a naturally nourished mane!
