Have you ever wanted to make your own nourishing pumpkin seed oil at home? With just a few simple steps, you can!
Pumpkin seed oil is packed with vitamins, minerals and fatty acids. These nourish hair, support scalp health and promote growth.
Start by washing the pumpkin seeds to remove any dirt or residue. Then, allow them to dry completely, either by air-drying overnight or in a low-temperature oven.
Once dried, place the seeds in a blender or grinder and blend until they’re finely ground.
Transfer the ground seeds to a heat-safe bowl. Set this bowl over a pot of simmering water (double boiler method) and gently heat for about 15 minutes.
Once the mixture is warm, allow it to cool slightly. Place the seed mixture into a folded cheesecloth and press firmly to squeeze out the oil.
Pour the extracted oil through a fine mesh strainer to catch any leftover seed particles. For a smoother result, you can strain it a second time.
Transfer your freshly made oil into a clean glass jar with a lid. Store it in a cool, dark place, where it will keep for up to 3 months.
To use, warm a few drops in your hands and massage into your scalp and hair.
You can leave it on for 30 minutes or even overnight for an intense conditioning treatment. Rinse and shampoo as usual to remove.
For the best results, use your pumpkin seed oil 1-2 times per week. Enjoy!
