Have you ever heard someone use the term “scarcity mindset”? Did you wonder what it meant?

Well, according to Web MD, a scarcity mindset is “when you are so obsessed with a lack of something – usually time or money – that you can’t seem to focus on anything else, no matter how hard you try.”

If finances have been something that you’re struggling with, or you’re having difficulty balancing responsibilities and time management, when you adopt a scarcity mindset in response to these difficulties, you’ll notice that your attention becomes acutely focused on these things. Suddenly, nothing else in the world matters and the only emotion that you feel when focusing on these issues is discouragement – in your mind, there’s no way that you’ll make enough money to pay your bills on time, there’s no way you can balance work with school or taking care of your children, there’s no way to accomplish that goal you’re striving to reach. In your head, you are sinking and there is no way up.

But we’re here to explain how you can kick your scarcity mindset to the curb and adopt a mindset of abundance. A mindset of believing that there’s more than enough resources in the world, more than enough money to pay your bills on time and in full, and more than enough time to spend tackling your pressing responsibilities. A mindset that will free you of your worries and anxiety – here’s how to ditch your scarcity mindset!

Speak Highly Into Yourself And Your Circumstances

When altering our mindset in any way, it’s important to remember that it first begins with our thoughts. Are we speaking to ourselves in a way that’s encouraging or are we constantly telling ourselves that the goal we are striving to reach won’t happen? That we will never attain the abundance, or lifestyle, that we hope to live?

Reframe your thoughts from negative to positive. Remember that although times may be difficult now, they will not always be. And trust that everything that is happening in your life is happening for your better good.

Have you ever heard of the self-fulfilling prophecy? According to Britannica, it’s the “process through which an originally false expectation leads to its own confirmation.” How many times have you projected that a bad outcome will happen and it actually does? Now, how many times have you suspected a good outcome and then actually watched it take form?

In all, our thoughts carry a lot of power. So be sure that you are using them to your advantage, and constructing a life of hope and positivity rather than disappointment and gloom.

Adopt Trust And Free Yourself From Anxiety

Once you’re able to alter your thoughts and invite more positive outcomes into your life, you must truly believe that they have the possibility of happening. You cannot tell yourself to think positively in your mind and still be carrying the weight of anxiety and fear in your chest.

Whether you’re someone who chooses to believe in a higher power, the universe, or the way of the world, choose a source that you can place your trust in and exercise some faith. It may feel easier said than done at first, but with time and practice, you’ll soon find yourself free from anxiety and totally at ease.

Give Gratitude

At some point in this process, you may begin to see your circumstances shifting. And you may just be feeling lighter, and more at peace, because of this new mindset that you’ve adopted.

As your circumstances and outlook on life begin improving, don’t forget to show your gratitude. Take some time every so often to acknowledge what has improved in your life, or what things you’re thankful for that have stayed the same. Giving gratitude shows that you are truly thankful for your circumstances, do not take them for granted and only invites more good fortune into your life.
