Homemade Deodorant for Sensitive Skin

By dezimey kum

Tired of store-bought deodorants causing irritation? Homemade deodorants are a game-changer! They’re free from harmful chemicals and gentle on sensitive skin.

Store-bought deodorants often contain harsh chemicals like aluminum, parabens and synthetic fragrances that can irritate sensitive skin.

When making homemade deodorant, key ingredients are baking soda (optional), arrowroot powder, shea butter, coconut oil and essential oils.

Key Ingredients

To make your deodorant, you’ll need a small mixing bowl, measuring spoons, a spatula, a deodorant container or jar and a microwave-safe bowl to melt ingredients.

Essential Tools

Lavender oil is calming, tea tree oil is antibacterial and lemon is refreshing. Use only a few drops to avoid irritation.

Customizing with Essential Oils

Mix 2 tbsp coconut oil, 2 tbsp arrowroot powder, 1 tbsp baking soda (optional) and a few drops of lavender oil. Store in a jar or container.

Melt 2 tbsp shea butter and 1 tbsp coconut oil. Mix in 3 tbsp arrowroot powder and chamomile oil, then pour into a container to set.

Start with a pea-sized amount, warm it between your fingers and apply to your underarms. Reapply as needed.

Apply Homemade Deodorant

If irritated, reduce or remove baking soda, test essential oils for allergies and add more soothing ingredients like shea butter.

Adjusting for Sensitivity

Drink plenty of water to reduce body odor, wash your underarms regularly to remove bacteria and wear breathable fabrics like cotton to minimize sweating.

Tips for Long-Lasting Freshness

If your deodorant is too hard, simply add more coconut oil to soften it. If it’s too soft or tends to melt, add more arrowroot powder to help it maintain its solid form.
