Fall is quickly approaching, and after that it's the holiday season. That means more guests taking over our personal space. Sometimes they give us advanced notice, then there are those times they just show up. However, it doesn’t have to be a chore to get your guest room ready for your next visitor. Here are five sure-fire ways to make your guests feel special and welcomed:

1. Clear the clutter

Let’s face it, most of our guest rooms double as offices, storage rooms, or kids’ rooms. Before your guests arrive, make sure you clear it out. No one wants to sleep in a cluttered environment that makes them feel like a guest. Remove anything that will get in the way. Likewise, clear out drawers and closet space, and provide ample hangers for their personal belongings.

2. Keep 'em hydrated

It’s safe to assume most people don’t want to stumble their way through your home to find a glass of water in the middle of the night. Therefore, it’s a good practice to keep a bottle of water by the bed. In fact, maybe two bottles might do the trick depending on the length of their stay.

3. What’s your Wi-Fi password again?

As interesting as your home may be, there are going to be times when your guest wants to get online to check email or just troll the web. So, make it easy for them. Consider framing your Wi-Fi login/password and leaving it on a bedside table. While you’re at it, make sure there is an available outlet for your guest to charge his/her devices.

4. Ditch the extra linen

We know that bed-in-a-bag comes with 12 extra throw pillows and probably looks great. But girl, no one wants to clear those off when it’s time to get some shut eye. More importantly, who wants to try to make that bed up the next morning?

Ditch the extra decorative pillows, but be sure to take inventory of spare pillows and extra blankets. Comfort is a very personal thing, you can anticipate your guest's needs by simply supplying extra blankets and pillows.

5.Don’t forget the little things

Make sure you go the extra mile to make your guests feel special. Put out a cute basket filled with toiletries they may have forgotten and fresh towels. You can also stock the room with a few magazines and even add some fresh cut flowers to the space.
