Who doesn't love a great candle? Lighting a candle and enjoying its fragrance is a form of self care that feels almost indulgent. The right candle does more than just instantly creates a lovely glow. It releases an inspired scent and creates a mood — whether that mood be warm and welcoming, spicy and sassy or sultry and alluring — all at the flick of a match.

But how do we find the one? With so many candle crafters and companies out there, the task of finding the right one may seem daunting.

To answer that question, we've taken a look at our own shimmering community of literal Black Girl Magic, and have created a list of luxurious candle companies for your every mood.

Here are six sumptuous, sultry and sassy black-owned companies creating amazing candles.

  • If you are looking for something on the bohemian chic side, try LIT Brooklyn. First of all, any candle company with "Lit" wordplay has to be dope. Created by founder Denequa Williams, this well known brand doesn't disappoint. Each of these 100 percent soy wax candles is hand poured and packaged before being shipped directly from Brooklyn, infused with all of its cool.

If you're searching for something fun and sassy, try Posh Candle Co., the West Coast brand that is as fun as its Los Angeles birthplace. With candles baring names like "Bad and Bougie," "Black Girl Magic" and "F*ckboy Repellent," creator Tay Watts infuses all the sun and sass of the coast into every small, hand-poured batch of these 100 percent soy based candles.

If you're on the hunt for a more organic experience, check out BLK + GRN, an online shop exclusively featuring all natural products created by black women. Including coconut wax candles, soy wax candles and candles with wooden wicks, that is exactly what this collection is: All-natural with high quality fragrances by black women.

  • If you're looking for something more luxurious, this brand may be right up your alley. Each of these elegant candles are hand made and poured right here in the United States. They're made with only 100 percent natural ingredients like fragrance oils, essential oils, all-natural soy, resins and aromatics. They are completed with a cedar wood wick.

If you're longing for something more nostalgic and austral, check out Southern Elegance. Founder and CEO D’Shawn Russell has created a candle brand inspired by her childhood in the south, with the company even putting some of their wax wonders in mason jars and having scents inspired by such southern delights as Carolina Pine and Sweet Tea.

If you're looking for something a bit more sultry to go along with your favorite vintage jazz, try Harlem Candle Co. Teri Johnson creates candles that are inspired by the movers and shakers of the Harlem Renaissance, with scents such as Ellington, Langston and Josephine.
