Happy New Year ladies and gentlemen! Congratulations we made it to another year! We can all agree that 2021 was just as stressful as 2020 thanks to Omicron, inflation, labor shortages and much more.

Unfortunately, we've been living in a state of uncertainty and this feeling has carried over to 2022. The new year can be tough for a lot of people and learning to adjust to the new normal is truly a challenge. However, it isn't impossible and we're here to encourage you to keep pushing and finding the best practices for you to thrive this year.

Here are some thoughts, affirmations and practices we encourage you to try when coping with another year of uncertainty.

1. Write It Down

Writing is a form of expressive therapy for a lot of people. Writing out your feelings and intentions gradually eases feelings of emotional trauma. Try writing down the positives in your life, then do your best to rid yourself of as many negatives as possible.

2. Unplug

Aren't you tired of being on zoom calls all day? Tired of scrolling away on Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and Twitter? I know I am, so let's unplug! Cut the devices off or put on do not disturb and pull out a book and read. Practice self guided meditations, stretch or even go for a walk. When you're done working for the day be intentional about leaving work exactly where it is and practice self care habits.

3. Let The FOMO (fear of missing out) Go

Just because you see people going out to events, to brunch, vacations, etc. doesn't mean that you're missing out. Some of my best moments have been by myself or with loved ones in the house. There's peace and happiness found in being still. We're still in a pandemic and COVID unfortunately is still thriving. You're not missing out on anything, you're exactly where you're suppose to be.

4. Focus On What Brings You Joy

A lot of families lost loved ones due to COVID over these last two years and would give anything to have them back. Cherish those precious moments with family members and friends because life is short. If being around your loved ones brings you joy make it a priority to spend more time with them. If honing your craft in your career or side hustle brings you joy focus more on bettering that skill set.

5. Check In With Yourself

Make it a habit to check in with yourself. Have realistic conversations with yourself and make sure you're attending to your needs before trying to help anyone else. Try asking yourself:

  • – What makes my soul happy?
  • – Where do I feel most free?
  • – What am I grateful for today?
  • – What mistakes did I make today, and what can I learn from them?
  • – Am I holding on to something I need to let go of?

6. Accept Where You Are Now

Let go of doubt and fear and accept where you are in life now. Don't compare your life or progress to anyone else. This is your journey, your life and your time. You are where you're suppose to be and the best thing to do is trust your journey and make the most of it.

Try shifting your mindset to positive things, feel what you feel and if you need help reach out to necessary resources. I am claiming that this year will be full of abundance, peace, health, love, wealth and more for you. Hang in there and put your best foot forward!
