Surrendering to the Universe can mean a lot of things. I know many of you are asking what does it mean to truly surrender to the Universe? What does it mean to truly let go and to release? For one, surrendering to the Universe means to trust that the Universe has your back in any given situation and to fully let go and release all attachment to the things you think should be happening in your life. Sometimes our plans don't always work out, and that’s okay, however, it’s when we truly learn to have faith in knowing that everything will be alright and to give the Universe some time to work on our behalf.
If you’ve been having a difficult time lately, or if things haven't quite been going according to plan, here are seven ways to surrender to the Universe’s divine plan and how to practice the art of mindfulness.
Release all attachment to outcomes and expectations
Releasing attachment to outcome starts with letting go of what we think should and shouldn't happen in our lives. When we truly learn how to let go of expectations, we can further begin to make way on our spiritual journey’s forward and begin to live happier/healthier lives.
Give the Universe some time to work on your behalf
Giving the Universe some time to work on your behalf doesn't mean that you're giving up. By letting things plan things out in divine timing, this means that we’re allowing for the right situations and experiences to take play exactly when they are meant to. If you’re going through a rough patch, don't give up.
Stop fighting the changes at play
Change is imminent. Regardless of if we do or don't want them to happen, they will still be there at the end of the day. Allowing change is like allowing water in a pond to stream freely- it’s a natural part of life.
Focus on the things you can control rather than the things you can't
Focus on the things you can control rather than the things you can't. I promise you, this will help make your life so much easier. By allowing things to just be in your life, you can therefore utilize the situation to try and focus on the things you do have control over, such as your mind, your body, your actions and behaviors, and the energy that you give out to the world.
Express gratitude for all that’s going well in your life
Expressing gratitude can be that one step closer to where you want to be in life. When we express our thanks for all of the things that are going right in our lives, and the things that we do have, we can therefore be more proactive with our time.
Stay in the flow of the moment rather than focusing on the past or the future
Staying in the present moment means to focus on the now. Rather than focusing on what has transpired and will or won't transpire in the future, staying in the present gives you more power to take control over your life.
Release all resistance and let God
Surrendering to the Universe means that we release all resistance surrounding our divine plan. Just because things aren't happening or working out now, doesn't mean that they never will. Trust the process. Sometimes life isn't about the destination, it’s about the journey!
