As an artist, it’s great to have a chart-topping hit single. It’s even better to have stage presence when you put on live performances. Some artists need a little help from a third party to help them build their stage presence. Others simply prefer to have someone else handle the entire scope of the performance. Rapper, Latto, knows the importance of engaging a crowd, so she hired Teyana Taylor as her new creative director.

Stepping Into A New Lane

Taylor announced the new relationship with the Georgia-bred rapper in an Instagram post. Taylor shared a video of her prepping for Latto’s Coachella sets. In the caption she shared that she was proud of Latto’s growth and willingness to be a student to better her craft. Taylor also revealed that she has completed four shows with the rapper and there will be more to come.

This isn’t the first time Teyana Taylor has flexed her creative muscles in the realm of entertainment. She has given fans an array of projects since co-foundeding The Aunties production company. The multi-hyphenate entertainer, retired from music in 2020 after releasing her final project “The Album.” Her music career has had many ups and downs which ultimately led to her decision to walk away from it. In an interview with Angie Martinez, Taylor even mentions she didn’t feel protected when she first entered the industry, joining music icon Pharrell Williams’ label.

“He’s not confrontational at all. He’s literally one of the sweetest people in just the whole wide world, you know what I’m saying? So, it wasn’t that he didn’t protect me, it’s just that a lot of hands started going into the cookie jar,” she said to Martinez. ” To me, as a 15-year-old, it was, you didn’t protect me. You let everyone mishandle me. I signed to you. You let everybody get in the way and everybody break us apart. You didn’t protect me.”

Although she has openly discussed her gripes with the music industry, Taylor has delivered hits like “Morning,” Rose in Harlem” and “Gonna Love Me.” Now, as she steps into her visual creative role, Taylor has made it very clear that she has the ability to lead. Teyana Taylor’s Creative Prowess

Teyana Taylor and Latto aren’t new to this, they’re true to this. The two have previously worked together on a campaign for Pretty Little Things. Taylor also worked with Doja Cat and Winnie Harlow in her role as Creative Director for Pretty Little Things.

Taylor’s credits are extensive. She was also the creative director for Coco Jones’ music video for her single, “Caliber.”

Taylor and her hubby, Iman Shumpert, appeared in an Old Spice commercial directed by Taylor. The commercial was for the brand’s “Men Have Skin Too” campaign.

Many don’t know this, but Teyana Taylor was the Creative Director on a project with Thee H-Town Hottie, Megan Thee Stallion. The two teamed up on a Halloween thriller. “Megan Thee Stallion P.I. in Hottieween,” was a multi-epsiode series about a private investigator turned vampire.
