AFROTECH™ 2024 is returning to Houston from Nov. 13 to Nov. 17. With a few weeks left until the event, this is the perfect time to place any last minute travel reservations or outfit orders for the best fashion moment.

Along with valuable gems, AFROTECH™ 2024 will feature A-list guests in their best looks, from The Honey Pot CEO Beatrice Dixon to The Honest Company CEO Carla Vernón. Past attendees at the conference have included Common, Marsai Martin and multi-hyphenate star Issa Rae.

Angela Rye

In 2019, Angela Rye attended the AFROTECH™ Conference in a relaxed look that screamed money-maker. The political commentator and activist wore a matching hoodie and sweatsuit set with dollar bills printed all-over. Her outfit featured a social conscious twist, with each bill showcasing a picture of Harriet Tubman. To make the look more upscale and conference-ready, Rye wore a pair of black statement heels. 

Erika Alexander

Erika Alexander also adorned a matching set in 2019. The “Living Single” actress donned a midi skirt set with snakeskin-inspired trim. Alexander accessorized the look with a pair of Gucci Malaga Kid Crystal Square Madelyn Mules. When it comes to dressing for the conference, opt for diverse shoe options, like loafers and mules.

Marsai Martin

Marsai Martin opted for a black jumpsuit with utilitarian workwear touches. Martin’s look is a great reference for those who aren’t comfortable wearing heels. She completed her outfit with chunky Converse sneakers and with a cushioned platform. 

Saweetie

Rapper Saweetie brought the flare and allure with her outfit while performing at the AFROTECH™ Conference in 2023. The “My Type” rapper donned an army-green look for her lyrical performance, which included a mesh bodysuit and matching cargo pants. You should look to recreate Sweetie’s outfit when it comes to parties and late-night networking events.

Angelica Nwandu

When you don’t know what to wear to a conference, a monochromatic look should always be your go-to. Angelica Nwandu, the founder and CEO of The Shade Room, opted for a striking all-black look to the 2024 AFROTECH Conference. Nwandu’s outfit featured flared leather trousers, a fitted black top and a matching sharp-lapel blazer. Channel your inner businesswoman with a head-turning all black look. 

Cam Kirk

In 2023, Cam Kirk opted for a simple blouse and trousers outfit with artistic touches. The Collective Gallery owner wore a white button-up that showcased Black people dancing, and coordinated his lace-up sneakers to match. If you align with the streetwear aesthetic, then take a page out of Kirk’s style book by pairing sneakers with more sophisticated shirts. 

Issa Rae

Issa Rae graced the stage in 2023, and her outfit spoke volumes. The writer and producer spoke on the “Empowering Black Women Entrepreneurs: Voices of Success and Resilience” panel wearing a bright and bold look from Black-owned brand Hanifa. Rae’s business casual ensemble featured the Hanifa Kalia Sheer Top and high-waisted blue trousers. To represent your culture, then opt to pack some of your favorite clothing from Black-owned brands for the conference. 

Jason Lee

Jason Lee brought a pop of color to the conference in 2023 for his fashion moment. He wore a purple sweater with green accents. The Hollywood Unlocked founder and CEO let the fuzzy sweater be the focal point of his look, pairing it with black skinny pants and matte leather sneakers.
