Time really does fly! Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt will be attending Spelman College in the Fall. This weekend, Academy Award-winning actress Angelina Jolie took to Instagram to share that her daughter would attend the Atlanta-based HBCU in the upcoming school year.

It is hard to imagine that only a few years ago, Zahara was a little baby who graced the red carpet with her parents. The now 17-year-old is done with high school, and will be pursuing a degree at Spelman college, which is a renowned historically Black liberal arts college for women with an outstanding reputation. In an update on her instagram account Jolie wrote “Zahara with her Spelman sisters! Congratulations to all new students starting this year. A very special place and an honor to have a family member as a new Spelman girl.”

On Saturday, July 30  Zahara and Jolie connected with other Spelman and Morehouse alumni for the “SpelHouse Back to School Send Off” fundraiser event in North Hollywood. In the video, some participants try to show Jolie how to do the electric slide, and she attempts to do so, before laughing and letting it go. Morehouse’s verified Instagram page captured the moment.

Following in her mother’s footsteps, Zahara has always had a heart for philanthropic causes. In December, she, along with her mother appealed to Washington D.C lawmakers to reauthorize the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), a U.S federal legislation that was signed into law in 1994 by Pres. Bill Clinton and protected women who had suffered violent abuses. VAWA was also recognized for calling attention to the issues of stalking, domestic violence, and sexual assault.
