Coi Leray is releasing her sophomore project, titled Coi. The “Players” rapper announced Friday that her second album will be out June 23 with features and collaborations from top-billed artists. Coi is Leray’s second LP following her debut project Trendsetter, which she released back in 2022.

Trendsetter included numbers, like “BIG PURR,” and a collaboration with Nicki Minaj on “Blick Blick.” Here’s all we know about Leray’s upcoming project.

Multiple Tracks, Different Genres

According to the press release, Leray’s album will feature 15 tracks spread across various genres. Leray racked up a number of hits in her career. Her hit “Players” found instant popularity on TikTok, numerous remixes and peaked at No. 9 on the top ten of the Billboard Hot 100.

Exciting Features

This project features popular artists, including David Guetta, Lola Brooke, Giggs, and Saucy Santana. Leray previously worked with Guetta on “Baby Don’t Hurt Me,” which is his single with Anne-Marie.

Iconic Samples

Known for sampling classics, Leray’s upcoming album appears to have a number of sampled numbers. Her latest single, “Make My Day,” which she is releasing ahead of her album, samples Technotronic’s “Pump My Jam.” Leray sampled ‘The Message” by Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five for her hit record “Players.” She is one of the rising crop of artists famously tapping inspiration from classic records.

Past Controversies

Leray’s album announcement comes merely days after she hit back at critics who came for her authenticity as an artist. The “Twinnem” rapper had made a comment regarding the over-saturation of the music industry. Many claimed that she was a part of that saturation herself. Leray also has come under fire for her performances at various shows in the past.
