I think it’s safe to say that we were all already obsessed with Rihanna, but her Savage x Fenty show at last week’s New York Fashion Week made us love the icon even more.

Held at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, Rihanna Fenty closed out fashion week with one of the most theatrical shows we've ever attended. Guests were greeted at the entrance by an all male wait staff holding glasses of Ace of Spades champagne on a silver tray. (How regal is that?) After a short wait, guests were welcomed to enter the main stage of the venue: a garden themed runway.

The show, which featured small waterfalls, glass walls and beautiful floral arrangements, was held at the Duggal Greenhouse in the Brooklyn Navy Yard, which set the perfect ambiance for the experience. The performance began with dim lights, soft music and a model draped in lace lingerie making her way down the 'Garden of Eden' themed runway.

It took a few minutes for me to realize that the Savage x Fenty presentation was telling a story. The show took us on a journey beginning with one woman walking peacefully through the greenhouse and swiftly transitioned into several beautiful women following suit. Each woman represented something unique: They all came from different creeds and backgrounds with kinky hair, short hair, blonde hair and shaved hair. Some were skinny and some were thick, but the one thing they all had in common was their impossible-to-ignore beauty. Rihanna took us on a journey through the transitions of womanhood, and the songstress even made sure to highlight women who were expecting mothers.

Pregnant model Slick Woods cat walked across the stage in a strappy number flaunting her growing belly and glowing skin. Model and dancer Janina Thompson's baby bump also made an appearance, and she wore a low v-cut mesh teddy with matching elbow length gloves and fur sliders by Brother Vellies.

Ms. Fenty closed the show by making her way down the runway in a sheer, brown midi dress with a matching brown scarf lightly tied over her face. At the end of the runway, she removed the scarf to reveal her beautifully beat face and brown matte lipstick that completed the ensemble.

RiRi, you've changed the game!

New York Fashion Week has a way to go as far as fully including different shapes and sizes into its runway shows. However, I'm proud to say that NYFWSS19 has been one of the most inclusive seasons thus far. Shows like Savage x Fenty and Chromat highlight the diversity of women who love fashion as well as honor the evolution that our bodies go through.
