This year’s New York Fashion Week is underway! Each year, big names head to the Big Apple for one of fashion’s biggest week-long events. It showcases the latest fashion collections from renowned designers, attracting industry insiders, celebrities, and fashion enthusiasts from around the world. There have been many moments that have already solidified this year as one for the books, especially in terms of Black women. Here are some of the NYFW moments that everyone has been buzzing about.
Honoring Kelly Rowland
Kelly Rowland was honored at the 16th annual Harlem Fashion Row’s Show and Style Awards. During the gala, held at the historic Apollo Theater, the songstress was given the Fashion Icon of the Year award. Her husband, Tim Weatherspoon, presented the award to her.
“You have always been my icon, not just in fashion but in all that you do, including raising our sons. You do it all with style and grace. And, you continue to innovate and inspire,” he said.
Celeb Sitings
The celebs were out at this year’s New York Fashion Week! Names like Teyana Taylor, Halle Bailey, and Lori Harvey graced the red carpets for some of this year’s most prestigious and most talked about events. Fashion risk-takers like Doja Cat and Lil Nas X even gave the crowds a few looks at this year’s events.

One of the most talked about events thus far at NYFW was the Pretty Little Thing Show. This year’s show highlighted a new collection, designed by the fashion icon, Naomi Campbell. Of course, there is more to NYFW than just the runways. One of the hottest events so far was the MCM x SunGoddess event hosted at MCM’s NYC Soho location. Sun Goddess is Mary J. Blige’s new wine brand, so of course the “Real Love” singer had to stop by.
