Black hair care is essential. In Blavity’s “A Week In My Wash & Go” series, LaRae Burress gives us a behind-the-scenes look into her seven-day hair regimen.
Have The Right Tools
In this Blavity ‘Wash & Go’ series, we go behind the scenes with LaRae Burress, a Licensed Cosmetologist and Hair Artist, who gives useful tips and tricks into her weekly hair care routine. One thing is evident throughout the episode. In addition to certain hacks, Burress shares some of the tools that make it easier for her to preserve her hair, despite the blond. On the first day of her regimen, Burress, who features on the seventh episode, uses Kerastase Resistance Masque Therapiste after her wash, coupled with Jamaican Mango & Lime Black Castor Oil Xtra Dark and Felicia Leatherwood Travel Detangler Brush. These tools, and a few others that she adds on in the following the days, become staples throughout her process.

Hydrate Every Day
Another tip that Burress highlights throughout the episode is the fact that she hydrates her hair every day, and she implements this by using a spray bottle every day to moisturize her mane before adding in any product. Another item that she uses is Adwoa Beauty Baomint™ Leave-In Conditioning Styler, Lotta Body Mousse Curl Define Milk & Honey and a Denman Hair Brush.
In addition to using products that hydrate the hair, Burress noticeably picked out and used products that worked well with her curl pattern and blond hair color, which is important.

Don’t Neglect The Tip
Our hair tips are just as important as the root. Although it might be tricky to remember to apply product all the way down to the tip of the hair, it is important to do so to prevent breakage and frizz.
Protect The Blond At All Costs.
Dyed blond hair can be a hassle to work around, but Burress makes it work. One product she swears by is the Kérastase Resistance Serum Therapiste, which she uses every day and refers to as the “holy grail” of her wash ‘n’ go hair care process.
Pay Attention To The Edges
Edges are an integral part of the hair care experience, and Burress pointed this out by highlighting the importance of regularly moisturizing and brushing up the edges of her hair. To do this, her product of choice was Gummy Alcohol Free Hair Gel and a tooth brush to swoop the edge hairs finely into place. The most striking thing about the episode though, is Burress’ confidence and optimism. Black hair care can be a rewarding labor of love, and optimism and confidence are sometimes the most important hair ingredients of the process.
