Outside of gracing runways and covers of magazines, supermodel, Chanel Iman, also takes on the title of supermom to two beautiful young daughters, 3-year-old Cali Clay Shephard and 2-year-old Cassie Snow Shepard.
In celebration of the upcoming Mother’s Day holiday, Iman recently partnered up with Victoria’s Secret to “reflect on the reality of real love as a mother – the blissful and the painful – and the overall gift of motherhood.”
In an exclusive interview with Essence, Iman shared her thoughts on motherhood and even gave a bit of advice for new mothers. “I think motherhood is one of the most fulfilling gifts because it is based on real love. On that note, I would advise new moms to lead with love and do the best they can – no one is perfect. Giving yourself a little grace goes a long way, and I think Victoria’s Secret captures this idea beautifully through this campaign.”

Prioritizing self care has been a really helpful way that Iman stays energized to not only pour into her children, but also pour into herself in the best way possible. “I think it is so necessary to take care of yourself, so that you can be the best version of yourself for your little ones,” she shared. “A good night’s sleep, my go-to skincare routine and of course, my cozy set of Victoria’s Secret PJ’s or loungewear are all key aspects of my self care.”
Iman added that she “instantly feels refreshed” and “ready to take on the world” whenever she’s able to have those replenishing moments to herself.

Iman shared that she’s also learned how patient she can be, which she believes stems from “unconditional love as a mother.” She acknowledges that not all relationships in life can be easy to navigate or come without challenges but she believes that if you keep love at the foundation, “you are good to go.”
