Chrissy Teigen and John Legend have announced a new addition to their family.

The couple confirmed in an Instagram post that they have welcomed their fourth child, a baby boy via surrogate. Their son, Wren, was born on June 19. Teigen gave birth to the couple’s third child, daughter Esti, in January.

In the post, Teigen shared details of the decision to use a surrogate after miscarrying their son Jack in 2020.

“After losing Jack, I didn’t think I’d be able to carry any more babies on my own,” Teigen wrote. “To be honest, I’ve personally blocked out a lot of my mindset during that time, but one clear memory is being surrounded by people who wanted to make sure I wouldn’t go through that pain and loss again.”

The cookbook author and Legend initially contacted a surrogacy agency in 2021. They inquired about using two “tandem surrogates” to carry babies simultaneously.

“Twins, kinda?!” wrote Teigen.

Teigen says at some point early in the surrogacy journey she decided she wanted to again try to carry a baby herself.

“I came out of a therapy session, walked downstairs, and said to John—I want to try to carry just one more time,” she continued. “If it doesn’t work, we will be okay.”

Teigen became pregnant with Esti. Then the couple decided to have surrogate Alexandra also go through the IVF process. The first attempt was not viable but the second attempt was a success. Teigen, Legend and Alexandra celebrated their tandem pregnancies with hot pot and reality TV.

“We ate hot pot to celebrate, watched ‘Vanderpump Rules’ with our growing bellies, our families blending into one for the past year,” Teigen wrote. “Our hearts, and our home, are officially full. And to our Jack, we know both their angel kisses are from you.

Choosing a Name

The couple named their son after their surrogate – Wren Alexander Stephens.

Teigen and Legend share two older children, Luna and Miles. Both children were conceived by IVF.
