Common was all smiles on the “TODAY” show when asked about the rumors of him dating singer Jennifer Hudson. Although, the rapper didn’t confirm or deny the rumors, he had a lot of nice things to say about Hudson.
“I’ll say, speaking of Chicago, she’s a Chicagoan, this amazing human being — I’ve always been inspired by her,” he said. “She’s one of the most beautiful people I ever met on the planet. Incredible heart, and she’s just dope, man.”
Hudson started her career in music as a contestant on “American Idol” before transitioning to Broadway. She is among the few artists to achieve EGOT status, winning an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony.
“Seeing her evolve and like from an actress and singing, like just doing so many things and now her talk show,” Common said. “She’s amazing, she’s inspiring. I’m grateful to know her.”
The EGOT winner hosts a syndicated daytime talk show on TLC. Her show features celebrity interviews, community heroes, viral sensations, and more. Hudson brings a fun, uplifting, and empowering conversations to the forefront. The first episode aired in September 2022 and was recently renewed for season 2.
The Relationship So Far
Dating rumors have been circulating about Common and Jennifer Hudson since last year. Hudson shut them down in September when asked by Entertainment Tonight. In March, the “Spotlight” singer took to her Instagram to create a birthday post for the rapper.
“Team Jhud pls help me wish one of the brightest lights, a Chicago and hip hop legend, the one and only @common a very happy birthday on today!” she wrote.
The post sent fans into a frenzy. Some asked Hudson if the post was confirmation of her and Common’s relationship. However, Hudson didn’t respond.
TMZ caught the two on a stroll together through the Chicago suburbs. They were walking arm in arm for over an hour looking cozy. Neighbors claim to see more of Hudson lately. She’s typically in LA filming “The Jennifer Hudson Show,” but since writers in Hollywood are on strike, the host likely has more free time.
