As her pregnancy nears its end, rapper Da Brat is sharing some sweet moments with her older sister LisaRaye McCoy.

“When your big sister pulls up and loves on you like only “my punk” @thereallraye1 can,” Da Brat wrote on an Instagram post.

On the post, fans see clips of McCoy rubbing her sister’s belly, attending a doctor’s appointment, and whipping up a home cooked meal for the mommy-to-be on Juneteenth.

This is the rapper’s first child. She shares the child with wife, Jesseca “Judy” Harris-Dupart. The couple married in February of 2022, and announced they were expecting their first child together back in February 2023. Brat admitted to People she never had never thought she was going to have children.

“I just thought it wasn’t in the cards for me. I’ve had a great career, a full life. I felt like, because I didn’t get pregnant earlier on, then it just wasn’t going to happen for me,” she told the publication.

But Da Brat changed her mind when she fell in love with Harris-Dupart. The two utilized IVF to conceive relying on a sperm donor during the process. Da Brat faced backlash after making comments about not using a Black donor to conceive. Harri-Dupart later clarified her wife’s comments and touched on the lack of Black sperm donors available.

Harris-Dupart has three children from prior relationships.

Strained Sibling Relationship

Da Brat and McCoy have both been in the entertainment industry for years. Unfortunately, the two haven’t always seen eye to eye. They’ve dealt with a strained relationship partly because of Da Brat’s relationship with Harris-Dupart. “The Players Club” actress initially introduced her younger sister to her now-wife. According to McCoy, Harris-Dupart reached out to her.

“I met her before she even met my sister. She and I were doing some videos for her Kaleidoscope products because she was actually a fan,” McCoy told Madame Noire in 2020.

But despite McCoy’s hand in Da Brat and her now-wife getting together, Da Brat’s relationship became a source of tension for the two sisters. According to Nicki Swift, the actress was upset about how Da Brat announced her relationship with Harris-Dupart to the world.

“I just didn’t want to hear it from the blogs and the interviews of people asking me questions … because I didn’t hear it from you,” McCoy said. “And so I’m hurt. That’s what I am,” she added while explaining why her and the “Brat Loves Judy” star had grown distant.

Da Brat and her older sister eventually reconciled by April 2021, but it was not the end of their drama. Tension rose again when Da Brat and Harris-Dupart announced they were “extending their family.”

“I did see the reveal of them expecting and expanding their family and I didn’t know anything about it as well,” she said on an episode of the “It’s Tricky with Raquel Harper” podcast in February 2022.

Da Brat was frustrated with how her sister went to the media with her issues. She detailed those frustrations in an episode of “Brat Loves Judy.” The sister’s journey to reconciliation wasn’t easy, but they’ve made tremendous strides. McCoy gave a custom-made gift to the couple before their wedding as a way to make amends.

“[O]ur start over is a real start over for me,” she said on an episode of “Brat Loves Judy.” “I think it’s a great start in moving forward into having a great relationship.”
