Comedian DC Young Fly is speaking out after the death of his partner, Wild ‘n’ Out star, Jacky Oh. The news came as a shock to fans and friends of the star on Thursday. Friday DC Young Fly, who’s real name is John Whitfield shared a statement with PEOPLE regarding Oh’s death.
“We thank everyone for their well wishes and ask for privacy during this difficult time,” Whitfield said in the statement to the magazine.
A Family In Mourning
According to TMZ, the star was shooting new episodes of Wild ‘N Out when he received the news. An additional statement from Jacky Oh’s family was shared via social media.
“It is with [sad] hearts we share with you that Jacklyn aka MsJackyOh has passed away on Wednesday, May 31st 2023,” the statement read. “Our family is still processing this very tragic and unexpected loss; we ask that you please give us privacy during this time.”
According to the Los Angeles Times, Jacky Oh reportedly died in Miami. The publication reports she had traveled there to undergo a “mommy makeover” surgery, according to a since-deleted social media post. Her cause of death is not yet known.
After news of her death broke BET Media Group released a statement.
“We are deeply saddened by the passing of Jacklyn Smith, known to the world as Jacky Oh, a talented Wild ‘N Out family member whose impact will be forever treasured and missed,” the official statement read.
An Unprecedented Incident
Jacky Oh recently had her third baby with Whitfield. In all the couple shared three children together. After leaving Wild N’ Out, she turned her attention to nurturing her family. The mother of three also launched a number of businesses including a lipgloss line and a real estate business. The news of her death has been met with an outpouring of love and support from fans and those close to the family.
