Diana Ross is a name many people know. Ross is one of the greatest female vocalists in the world, known for her dazzling solo career and 60s girl group The Supremes. After more than six decades in the industry, Ross is still going. She’s currently on her “Celebrating Timeless Classics” Tour. In 2024, the legendary songstress celebrated her 80th birthday surrounded by family and friends, including her five children: Rhonda, Tracee, Chudney, Ross and Evan.
Here’s more to know about Ross’s children and their professions.
Rhonda Ross Kendrick
Born on August 14, 1971, Rhonda is Ross’s eldest child. Her father is Motown record label founder Berry Gordy; however, Ross’ first husband Robert Ellis Silberstein raised her as his child. In her professional life, Rhonda serves as a motivational speaker and singer-songwriter.
Her musical performances span far and wide, including one of former President Obama’s Inaugural Ball and The Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Rhonda has even joined Ross on tour multiple times, including opening for her in 2017.
“I was very moved when she asked me to open for her because what it says to me is that yes, I’m her daughter and yes, there’s nepotism at play, but it’s not solely that,” Rhonda said in an interview with the Sarasota Herald-Tribune that year. “Because for 20 years I’ve been singing, she’s never [asked me] before. So what that says to me is she likes what I am building as my own brand and my own art and my own career. She likes it, she respects it and she feels that it’s a good companion to what she is doing and I agree.”
Rhonda is married to jazz musician Rodney Kendrick, and the couple share a son, Raif-Henok Emmanuel Kendrick.
Tracee Ellis Ross
Born on October 29, 1972, Tracee Ellis Ross isn’t a singer like her mother, but the multihyphenate made major achievements in the acting and business industries. In the 90s, Tracee modeled for luxury designer brands including Thierry Mugler. She later ventured into acting, playing Joan Clayton in the Black-woman centered series “Girlfriends.” Her portrayal of Rainbow Johnson on ABC’s hit show “black-ish,” earned her a Golden Globe Award in 2017 for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series.
In 2019, Tracee pivoted, becoming the founder and CEO of natural haircare brand Pattern Beauty, which she reportedly worked on for 10 years to perfect. In 2025, she was honored for her creative and stylish dressing and awarded the Women’s Wear Daily 2025 Fashion Trailblazer Award.
“My mom, of course, has led a very public life, but she is such a private person, and such a home person,” Tracee told Flaunt Magazine in 2023. “She’s a mom before she’s ‘Diana Ross.’ My childhood was very anchored in real family life. My mom was home, my mom came and woke me up for school. And what I will say is it looked the way it did for my friends.”
Chudney Ross
Born on Nov. 5, 1975, Chudney is Ross’s youngest daughter. Her and Tracee share the same father, Ross’s first husband Robert Ellis Silberstein. Now, Chudney is a mother of two and a wife to husband Joshua Faulkner. According to her Instagram, education is one of the most important things to Chudney. After earning an English and Fine Arts degree from Georgetown University, Chudney was a teacher for the AmeriCorps’ Teach For America program. In 2012, Chudney authored her first children’s book “Lone Bean.” Now, she runs the business Books and Cookies, which offers interactive learning experiences for children from underprivileged communities. It promotes her passion for learning, children, and serving families.
Ross Naess
Her oldest son Ross was born on October 7, 1987. Ross and Evan’s father is Arne Naess Jr., a Norwegian businessman who married the singer from 1985 to 2000. Four years after their divorce, Naess Jr. died in a rock climbing accident. Ross is a producer, with his credits including the 2014 film “ Acid Girls,” “Diana Ross: When You Tell Me That You Love Me (1991),” and “Celebrity Family Feud (2008).” Ross wed his longtime girlfriend Kimberly Ryan in 2017, and they share two sons.
Evan Ross
Evan is Ross’s youngest child, but has already made a big mark in Hollywood and beyond. Born on August 26, 1988, he first emerged as an actor, appearing in a number of films. The list includes “Pride,” “CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story,” “The Hunger Games,” and the 2006 film “A.T.L” starring rapper T.I. In 2014, Evan wed singer Ashlee Simpson, and the two now have a son and daughter.
In 2017, the couple produced and starred in their own reality series on E! titled “Ashlee + Evan.” The show ran for six episodes. It showcased their professional pursuits along with a closer look at their celebrity acquaintances. Outside of acting, the A-lister dabbles in fashion and campaigns starring his family. In 2024, he appeared at a variety of high-profile fashion events Willy Chavarria and Yves Saint Laurent. Outside of the industry, Evan also has an entrepreneurial mindset. He is the co-owner of L.A. restaurants The Hideaway and Leona’s LA.
