In a move that promises to blend sophistication with a contemporary edge, Dior revealed Rihanna as the new face of its iconic J’Adore fragrance. The announcement comes after the beauty mogul recently launched her new haircare line, Fenty Hair. Her latest accomplishment is not just a nod to her immense talent and influence, but also a celebration of her multifaceted persona that resonates deeply with women worldwide.
Rihanna steps into the role previously held by Charlize Theron, who has been synonymous with the fragrance for two decades. While Theron’s timeless elegance and charisma have defined J’Adore’s image, Rihanna brings a fresh, dynamic energy to the brand.
The singer and entrepreneur described her new role as “both an honor and a mission,” in a statement.
She shared her personal connection to the fragrance as well as her eagerness to infuse it with her unique touch.
“The scent, that I have known and loved for so long, means so much to women,” Rihanna said. “I am especially looking forward to joining this adventure and contributing to it through my world, my story, my roots, as well as my creativity and my own femininity.”
The Choice of Rihanna for J’Adore
Véronique Courtois, CEO of Parfums Christian Dior, expressed the brand’s enthusiasm for Rihanna’s appointment.
“The choice of Rihanna to be the next face of J’Adore was obvious for us. Not only is she one of the greatest and most powerful artists of all times, she is also multitalented, a successful entrepreneur, a committed humanitarian, a mother of two and a singular beauty,” Courtois stated.
Since its creation in 1999 by perfumer Calice Becker, J’Adore has been synonymous with empowerment and femininity. The fragrance’s floral composition, featuring notes of jasmine, rose, and ylang-ylang, has been a global favorite. It is housed in its distinctive teardrop-shaped bottle adorned with a slender gold neck. Rihanna’s involvement promises to usher in a new era for J’Adore, blending its classic allure with her modern, edgy spirit.
A Sincere Collaboration
Rihanna’s relationship with Dior is not new. In 2015, she starred in Dior’s “Secret Garden IV” campaign, filmed inside Versailles. This new collaboration, however, delves deeper into her personal connection with the J’Adore fragrance.
“She’s had an intimate bond with J’Adore since she was a little girl, which gives an extra meaning to this sincere collaboration,” Courtois added.
The anticipation is high for the first campaign featuring Rihanna, shot by renowned photographer Steven Klein. The ad is set to be unveiled on September 1. Courtois hinted at a campaign that promises the thrill, desire, and spectacular essence synonymous with Dior, along with some unexpected twists.
