As far as pop stars go, Grammy-award-winning Doja Cat stands out as one of the boldest. From her rambunctious rap verses, to her groundbreaking visuals, to her ever-evolving fashion, she’s got both the skill and eccentricity that promise longevity.

While her rise to fame felt like overnight, she’s been building her career brick by brick since she was a teenager. Consistently releasing music on SoundCloud, her song “So High” caught the attention of RCA Records, offering her a contract in 2014. She went on to land number-one hits, sold-out tours and numerous accolades, being named in the “100 Most Influential People in the World” list by Time in 2023.

Though she’s been the subject of a few rumored relationships, the artist has done her best to keep the details of her love affairs under wraps. However, it’s been confirmed that she’s currently off the market— so who is Doja Cat’s boyfriend?

Who Is Doja Cat’s Boyfriend?

J. Cyrus is an influencer, actor and comedian with a pretty established online following. Creating content on Vine since he was 16 years old, he was named as the finalist in the Vine comedian category for the 2016 Shorty Awards.

Born in Louisiana and raised in New Orleans, the 36-year-old relocated to Los Angeles to pursue a career in media. The former Vine star is now a very successful Twitch streamer, maintaining much of the audience he’s built online. He’s also a musician, releasing an album titled Sober in 2017, which speaks to his sobriety journey.

While the relationship has yet to be confirmed by either party, paparazzi photos have caught them in some pretty compromising positions. The pair were first seen strolling New York City together in November 2022. They were later spotted in May 2023 enjoying dinner at celebrity hotspot Carbone, and then kissing on a yacht in Mexico in June.

Doja Cat spoke vaguely about the romance to Harper’s Bazaar in September 2023. “I love love,” she said. “I’m possibly a serial dater. I have had that in me a little bit. But right now I’m in a different place in my life where I am very committed and very much in love in a different way than before.”

Who Is Doja Cat’s Ex-Boyfriend?

J. Cyrus isn’t Doja Cat’s first romance with someone in the public eye. She dated indie artist Johnny Utah, aka JAWNY, for a year before separating in February 2020.

The two connected when Doja Cat stumbled upon one of his music videos on YouTube, shooting her shot by commenting “I love you baby.” His response was directly messaging the singer “Hey girl, I just showed this pic to my little cousin, and I told him that we’re together. Don’t make me look like a liar now. He looks up to me.” Though the two shared much of their young love online, it eventually fizzled out, ending amicably. Beyond the quick romance, she’s been linked to rappers Lil Dicky and French Montana.

He’s Been in Scandal

Doja Cat herself is no stranger to scandal, though neither is her new boyfriend. Accused of abuse and inappropriate conduct, Cyrus has been the victim of resurfaced tweets that paint a racist past. Though the self-identified comedian has been known to push the envelope with his jokes, now-deleted posts like “Never suggest KFC to your black friend” and ones that make light of racially motivated police brutality have left many questioning his intentions with Doja Cat.

Several women have also come forward claiming that they were harassed by Cyrus on Twitch between the years 2020 and 2022. A post by X (formerly known as Twitter) user, Emma, alleged: “He used his power and influence to mistreat women who watched him stream. The last count of women who came forward was close to 20. He destroyed a community of 100s of people who trusted and admired him.”

It seems as if the creative admitted to some truth behind the allegations, as Rolling Stone reported that he offered a now-deleted apology. “There is no excuse nor justification for my actions. I was careless, greedy, ignorant and disrespectful. And I was completely in the wrong,” Cyrus said. “In a position of power and trust, I gave into the temptations and attention of those who looked up to me. These women are special. They are strong. And they are worth so much more than me and my ignorance. And I failed to realize that when it mattered.”

Doja Is in Love

Amidst many fans urging Doja Cat to move on, she had this to say: “I DON’T GIVE A F— WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT MY PERSONAL LIFE I NEVER HAVE AND NEVER WILL GIVE A F— WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT ME OR MY PERSONAL LIFE GOODBYE AND GOOD RIDDANCE MISERABLE HOES HAHA!” the singer passionately wrote in July. When you’re in love, it’s hard to listen to any outside noise, and that certainly applies to pop stars, too.
