When thinking about Black love, we can’t leave out the idea of Black self love. The walking embodiment of self love is none other than Lori Harvey. The team at Essence Magazine knew exactly what it were doing by tapping the young mogul to cover the “Black Love” issue.
“This moment is about me,” Harvey said in her interview for the magazine. The 25 year old discussed love in all its forms and where she is in life at the moment. “I feel like it’s always been [about] me attached to something or someone. This time, it’s about me. Self-love, self-care, self-reflection. I’m being a little self-ish right now. It’s my time.”
In the past, headlines about Harvey mainly focused on who she was dating whether it had been her most recent relationship with Michael B. Jordan or previous suitors. She is now stepping into a new phase of her life where she’s making sure headlines are focused only on her. Even as the daughter of comedian, Steve Harvey, she has always had the spotlight on her. “But what I would love for people to know is that I am a young woman just trying to figure it out, but I’m trying to figure it out in the public eye.”
She even discussed the process behind launching her skincare brand, SKN by LH, in 2021. “That has arguably been one of the hardest things I’ve ever done in my life,” she recalled. “But also one of the most rewarding and fulfilling because this is the first thing that I’ve really been able to call my own thing that that I built from the ground up.”
We love to see the growth of a budding legend. From her looks, to her business ventures, Lori Harvey is definitely one to keep your eye on. Read the entire article here.
