A Busy Time

Fantasia has been keeping extremely busy over the past few months. Her packed schedule has included her traveling cross country for her music tour and releasing a new video for her “Let’s Dance” track with her brother Ricco Barrino.

Promotion for her debut feature film “The Color Purple” has also kicked off within the last few months.

Fantasia and several of her “The Color Purple” cast mates made an appearance at The Essence Festival of Culture over July 4th weekend to talk about the film. She was joined by Taraji P. Henson, Danielle Brooks, and Oprah Winfrey, who is one of the film’s producers.

The Essence trip included a luncheon that Fantasia shared footage from on her Instagram account. Fantasia also received a sweet surprise during the luncheon, with her movie cast mates giving her a cake to celebrate her June 30 birthday.

The first official trailer for the film dropped in May to tons of fanfare online. The Blitz Bazawule-directed musical adaptation is a reboot of the 1985 Stephen Spielberg-directed drama.

“The Color Purple” will be released in theaters on December 25.
