New Jersey’s choir girl turned mega pop star, Whitney Houston, is getting her very own biopic coming soon to a theater near you. Check out the trailer below!
Sony has released the first trailer for the upcoming biopic “I Wanna Dance With Somebody,” the story about Whitney Houston. The film chronicles the life of the beloved pop star and her untimely death. You can catch stars like Stanley Tucci, Ashton Sanders and Clarke Peters in the film. But, who is playing “Nippy” a.k.a. Whitney? Well that task goes to “The End of the F***ing World” star Naomi Ackie.
In an interview with People Magazine, the star discussed playing the icon. “She’s been elevated in my life for so long that it felt like an impossible thing to achieve at times,” she recounts. “But so many people told me the same thing: If I wasn’t scared and nervous, they’d think something was wrong with me. … The biggest challenge was letting my fear of the magnitude of this task take a back seat. Nothing good comes from sitting in fear for too long.”
Sony describes the film as a “no-holds-barred portrait of the complex and multifaceted woman behind the voice.” You can catch “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” in theaters December 21.
