Everyone has heard “Yall better come up here and get one of these” at least 10 times a day on their timelines. There is no possible way to escape the popular sound on social media. When users love a sound, advertisers flock to it because of its value. Google reached out to the creator of the viral “it’s a chicken salad” TikTok sound and their offer was not even comparable to what it actually deserved.

Tanisha Godfrey sat down in a recent interview with TikToker Raymonte Cole, where she revealed that Google low-balled her to use her voice.

“I’m still learning how to work TikTok. Y’all know I was new to this but I’m not dumb. So when you say you want to buy my sound and you’re offering me $500, it’s a f-cking problem,” Godfrey said in the interview.

In the interview she also discussed how several tech giants came to her with deals but none were enough. Google’s offer was flabbergasting to her. “They offered me $500. Then, $1,000. Then, $2,000,” she recalled. “And I said, ‘Have a good day.’”

She said she then hired a publicist who confirmed that she was right in her choice.

When announcing her new publicist on Instagram, Godfrey expressed how happy she was to find someone  who confirmed her worth. “I finally found someone who can represent me and make sure I’m not making crazy decisions, lowballing myself, and is actually going to soar my new career!! I’m so excited,” she wrote.

The content creator has since signed a deal with Weight Watchers and created “The Nisha Chicken Salad,” a recipe she created herself. The company featured Godfrey’s salad in its list of over 12,000 recipes.

Elsewhere in the interview, she expressed that she is enjoying the moment of her fame on social media but she doesn’t want to be known only for chicken salads, and plans to create more content. Watch the original video below.
