Gospel singer Tasha Cobbs Leonard, 40, recently opened up to her followers on Instagram about the arrival of her baby boy Asher Amaris Leonard with her husband, Kenneth Leonard. After what has seemed like a tumultuous journey to motherhood, Cobbs was elated to share the good news with fans.

The "I'm Getting Ready" gospel singer, along with her husband, exclusively shared their difficult adoption journey with PEOPLE magazine. After years of grueling in vitro fertilization treatments, the couple views their first child as a miracle.

The couple shared with PEOPLE magazine that they were disappointed after many attempts at getting a baby fell flat; however, they kept trying, and now that they have their son, they feel as though he is more than what they could have prayed for.

"We are super excited just to watch him every day. Sometimes we look at him and say, 'This is real?'" said Cobbs.

Although Cobbs admitted that the process of trying for a child caused her faith to suffer, her faith strengthened after the ordeal was over, and she hopes that her story can encourage anyone who is going through the same thing.

"If you desire a child, and you've been struggling, adoption has been beautiful for us," said Cobbs. "It's literally like Asher is our blood."

In sharing their journey, Cobbs hopes that people can "keep their faith," during trying times.

"If you have faith for something, if you're believing for something, don't ever give up on it," said Cobbs. "I know even in the last two or three years; it's been hard to walk in faith because so many people have gone through so much. But we want our story to show that even in the last two years, God is still working on the promises that he's given us."

Asher is the third sibling to join the Leonard household. He joins three older siblings who are Kenneth's kids from a previous marriage. Cobbs shared that Asher's siblings are "so in love with their baby brother" and we're extremely happy about his arrival.
