To gear up for our Summit21 Conference this year in Atlanta, 21Ninety has scored exclusive interviews with some of this year's participants.

One of these #Boss women includes Bonner-Gomez, creator of For Other Prizes Consulting, who has been aiding students of all ages since 2008. Whether it is assisting students in reading comprehension, math, English or standardized test prep, Jessica has successfully coached students to achieve and excel through her business.

Read 21Ninety's exclusive interview below:

21Ninety: Can you give us a little of your background? What inspired you to create For Other Prizes Consulting products? What was the vision behind the name?

Jessica Bonner-Gomez: I hold a double-major BA in English/Communication Studies, an MA in English, and a BS in Speech-Language Pathology. In December 2019, I will graduate with an MS in Speech-Language Pathology. Further, I have been in education for more than ten years. Most of those years have been spent as a tutor, and just under 4 of those years were spent teaching English Composition I and II to college students. To be clear, For Other Prizes Consulting is a service-based business; however, I have invested in products to pass out to tutoring clients. What inspires this investment is the great appreciation I have for all my customers.

21N: How long have you been creating Stationary/Office products?

JBG: This year is the first year I have opted to invest in stationery products.

21N: What kind of work goes into the process of creating them? What materials are used?

Because I am not a designer, I often resort to companies that are known for putting products together for you (e.g., Vistaprint). My sole part involves letting the companies know how I want the products to look.

21N: Which ones were the most fun to create? Any customer favorites?

JBG: There was a time I was giving away earbuds to customers. Designing the transparent lid to the ear bud’s case was pretty fun. The earbuds seemed to be a definite favorite.

21N: What do you think makes your business/platform unique over others like it?

JBG: Through my business, I seek to shape services as close to the needs of my clients as much as possible. For instance, recently, I have begun working on a digital product that will help clients learn new vocabulary through the lyric translation of their favorite songs (using target vocabulary). The idea was inspired by my clients whose vocabularies were not large yet who tended to remember lyrics to their favorite songs with no issue. I figured I could work on using the strength to alter the weakness.

21N: What do you hope to gain from Summit21 this year?

JBG: I hope to gain knowledge on how to seek out and attract more of my target audience to my tutoring services. Additionally, I would love to gain a more extensive network of boss women.

21N: Is there anything you wish to teach/inform the Summit21 audience about?

JBG: You can learn more about me, For Other Prizes Consulting, and offerings here. Stay empowered, ladies! You got this!
