If you’re anything like me, you’ve perused Pinterest for hours trying to figure out how exactly to make your apartment look like the ones in the photos. The people of Pinterest are experts in home decor, continually posting photos of beautiful and sometimes awe-inspiring apartments. Over the years, however, I’ve learned a trick or two to recreate the looks that Pinterest users post. And, a great place to start your home’s Pinterest transformation is the bedroom. Here are some tips that’ll take your bed from plain to Pinterest-worthy.

OVERSIZED COVERS
An easy way to make your room super cozy is to buy a comforter, duvet or blanket one size larger than the size required for your bed. For instance, I have a full-size bed and I recently decided to switch out my full-size comforter for a queen size. It made my bed 10 times cozier.
DECORATIVE BLANKETS GALORE
Throw blankets folded and draped just right can make all the difference. A throw blanket is a great way to add color, patterns or textures into the mix. Make sure you have a fun throw blanket on hand to add to the beauty of your bedroom.
ADD A VARIETY OF TEXTURES
Try utilizing a variety of textures. I promise it makes all the difference. On my bed alone, I have linen, plush, velvet and fur — all which work together to make my bed feel warm, inviting and cozy. Mixing and matching textures can really take your bed up a notch (or two!).
THROW PILLOWS ARE EVERYTHING
Like throw blankets, throw pillows are a great way to add colors, textures and patterns to your bed. They also make a huge difference if you’re trying to make your bed Pinterest-worthy. You’ll notice that most bedroom decor shown on Pinterest includes tons and tons of pillows.
ARRANGE AND REARRANGE YOUR PILLOWS
It may seem like a small thing, but rearranging your pillows could make all the difference. Your bed will look amazing once you figure out how to place your pillows so that they best accent the bed and the rest of the decor in your bedroom. Keep trying different pillow arrangements until you find one you love.
CHOOSE A DECOR THEME
Choosing a decor theme will help immensely for designing your bed. A theme can be as rigid as choosing a set color palette or as loose as a style, like bohemian or glam. However strict your theme might be, it will help guide you as you choose pieces for your bedroom so that things coordinate and you know the look you’re working toward.
TRY SOME ACCENT FURNITURE
A nice final touch is to add accent furniture to your sleeping area. Pieces like poufs, storage benches, cozy chairs or creative and fun nightstands can pull your bedroom together.
