Personality quizzes will seemingly always stay popular. These assessments are great icebreakers for getting to know new people in your life. These tests are even great ways to know more about yourself. Out of all the personality quizzes out there the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator remains the tried and true test. The assessment tool features 16 personality types, including the INFP personality type.
What Is the INFP Personality?
INFP stands for introverted, intuitive, feeling and perspective. These people are normally quiet and reserved. However, when it comes to their talent and passions they showcase their creativity out loud. Characteristics of people with INFP personalities include being empathetic and naturally adaptive. When it comes to careers, these people use their jobs to make the world a better place.
Amandla Stenberg
Amandla Stenberg, 26, continues to make great strides in her career. The actress has appeared in a slew of different roles, from the dystopian film “The Hunger Games” to the drama movie “Where Hands Touch.” In 2019, she earned the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actress in a Motion Picture for her role in the coming of age film “The Hate You Give.” The young actress is incredibly creative by nature. Along with acting, she’s an avid social advocate for LGBTQ+ rights and plays the violin.
Alicia Keys
As an INFP personality type, Alicia Keys is generally unassuming and introverted. However, her talent is something you can’t possibly ignore. The singer is a classically trained pianist and a 16 time Grammy Award winner. Keys also is committed to living an authentic life, which is a characteristic of most “INFP” personality types. In 2016, she released the letter titled “Time to Uncover,” which influenced her to stop wearing makeup. Years later in 2020, she launched holistic skincare brand Keys Soulcare.
Naomi Osaka
As a four-time Grand Slam singles champion and with two US Open titles, Naomi Osaka is a legendary tennis player. Behind the scenes, the athlete and mom continues to work on her shyness.
“Even right now, maybe a couple of years ago I would be very, very shy to do this interview and you would only get like two words out of me, but now we’re getting full sentences!,” she told ESPN in a 2020 interview.
Her introverted nature led her to be vulnerable about athletes’ mental health in 2021. That year she withdrew from the 2021 French Open, expressing her experience with depression and anxiety.
Erykah Badu
Erykah Badu is a renowned songstress, which earned her the name “Queen of Neo Soul.” Her connection to spirit and African heritage makes sense, because most INFP’s are extremely intuitive. In 2024, on The Tamron Hall Show, Badu explained the source of her spiritual nature.
“I think it’s indescribable,” she said. “In the bedroom, that’s not where you’re gonna find it because my magic doesn’t lie between my thighs, it lies between my ears.”
Aligning with her “INFP” categorization, Badu’s music is intrinsically soulful. If her sultry songs aren’t spiritual enough, the songstress’ fashion is equally eccentric. Essentially, Badu’s individualism is unmatched and nobody compares to her.
Nina Simone
Nina Simone is seemingly the posterbook child of the INFJ personality type. Simone is one of the most prominent singer-songwriters of all time. Her music explored deep topics including love, racial injustice and the overall Black women experience. Simone’s politically charged songs defined a generation of activists and continues to inspire millions of people today. Her creative career and ability to showcase her empathy through song perfectly explains her INFP personality.
