Going through a rough patch can be extremely tough, as the journey that follows feels long and excruciatingly painful. Going through difficult moments in our lives can also hinder our mental health significantly, though it doesn't have to stop and end there. If you’ve been going through a difficult life cycle lately whether it's the loss of a loved one, a friendship, a relationship, or even the loss of a job, you do have the power to get back up again, and here’s how.

Focus on the things you can control

By focusing on the things we can control within our lives, we can therefore actively choose our own path forward despite all that may be going on around us. There are many things in life that can and will steer us off our path, and when those moments happen, what’s most important is how you react and how you choose to perceive those moments as divine redirection that’s leading you to something better.

Try to avoid negative people

Avoiding negative people is not always an easy thing to do, but when you start to notice if someone is constantly trying to put you down, even when you're going through a rough time, this can be a huge indicator that it’s time to let them go, gracefully. You deserve to be surrounded by people who want to support you, not people that want to constantly see you fall.

Expand your network and your connections

One of the best ways to get through a tough time is by expanding your network and your connections with others in ways that can help push you forward. Whether you decide to join a group or a community of like-minded people that discuss their own experiences and ways they are moving forward, this can help you to also put things into perspective in your own way. Even if you decide to go to therapy or speak to a trusted professional, you’ll make far better use of your time connecting with others rather than remaining in a dark slump.

Don’t withdraw from life

Don't give up. Even when times feel as though they are at their lowest in life, never give up when it comes to moving forward. You have more power than you think, and if you’ve made it this far, the last thing God wants is to see you throw it all away. Just because life isn't going well at the moment, doesn't mean it can't improve for the future. As humans, it’s easy for us to build a world off of the current state of things, though this is one of the best ways to steer you off your path and distract you from positively moving forward.

Prioritize the people that are important within your life

Prioritizing the people that truly matter is a great way to get out of a negative slump. Always make time for those that show support and love you. You’ll get that love back 10x more.
