ColourPop cosmetics is back with another makeup collection, this time in celebration of the Chinese New Year, or Lunar New Year, and ringing in the year of the tiger. Though much of the world celebrates the New Year on January 1st, many countries within the eastern hemisphere actually celebrate on February 1st. Millions of people across the eastern hemisphere travel to their homelands to celebrate with their families, and customs include lion dances, fireworks, ancestral rituals, handing out money in red envelopes, and large feasts. All in the hope of welcoming “good fortune, happiness, and prosperity” into the forthcoming year.
The beginning of the Lunar New Year also ushers in a celebration for one of the twelve animals represented by the Chinese zodiac. This year celebrates the year of the tiger, a sign regarded as vigorous, ambitious, daring, courageous, enthusiastic, self-confident, generous and committed to help others for a greater good.
ColourPop was sure to jump in on the celebration and released their “Get Em Tiger” collection earlier this month on January 4th. The collection is accented with gold, red and white detailing and features a total of six products. The first is the “roar at the moon” lip set which features a glossy lip stain in the shade “Show Your Stripes,” a lip creme in the shade “Hear Me Roar,” and a lip lacquer in the shade “Grr Time;” all in inspired by the color deep red.
Next it features a four-pan eyeshadow palette that shimmers with a “metallic pale rose gold” colour, “metallic gold with red and silver” color, a terracotta color, and a matte warm brown color. The collection also features a sol shimmering body powder with “peach and gold pearls,” that leaves skin with a radiant glow. And the last addition is the white peach body milk infused with peach extract and white tea to nourish and soothe skin.
