Jada Pinkett Smith shared a progress photo of her hair growth while battling alopecia.
“This here hair is act’n like it’s try’n a make a come back. Still have some trouble spots but — we’ll see,” she wrote in the caption of her Instagram post.
The actress uploaded two selfies – the first photo was of her bald crown and second showed off her hair growth, dyed blonde.
Journey with Alopecia
Pinkett Smith has remained transparent about her journey with alopecia. In 2021, she shared a video of one of her bald spots.
“Mama’s gonna have to take it down to the scalp so nobody thinks she got brain surgery or something. Me and this alopecia are going to be friends … period!” the caption read.
Pinkett Smith focused in on the a bald line patch in the middle of her head. At the end of the video, she lets her followers know she would make a crown of rhinestones.
“You know mama’s going to put some rhinestones in there. I’m going to make me a little crown. That’s what mama’s going to do,” she said.
Jada Pinkett Smith Opens Up About Hair Loss
In 2018, Pinkett Smith talked about her hair loss during an episode of “Red Table Talk.”
“A lot of people have been asking why I’ve been wearing turbans. Well, I haven’t talked about it. It’s not easy to talk about, but I am going to talk about it,” she said. “I was in the shower one day and had just handfuls of hair in my hands, and I was just like, ‘Oh my god, am I going bald?'”
She explained that her hair loss was why she cut and continues to cut her hair.
“Taking care of my hair has been a beautiful ritual, and having the choice to have hair or not. And then one day to be like, ‘Oh my god, I might not have that choice anymore.'”
