Jade Cargill has built a legacy for herself in the world of WWE. One of the toughest female wrestlers of all time, she made history as the inaugural and longest-reigning All Elite Wrestling TBS Champion. But although she packs both a bark and a bite, she’s a soft lover girl like the rest of us when she’s outside of the ring.
However, her household is certain to be a competitive one, with two major athletes at the head. 11 years her senior, Cargill is married to former MLB athlete Brandon Phillips, a story of love at first sight.
Who Is Brandon Philips?
Born June 28, 1981, in Raleigh, North Carolina, Brandon Philips is a legend in his own right. One of the most beloved players in the league, he gave 16 years of his life to the MLB. The second baseman debuted for the Cleveland Indians in 2002 and spent several years playing for the Cincinnati Reds, Atlanta Brave and Los Angeles Agents, eventually retiring with the Boston Red Sox in 2018. With 2,029 hits, 211 home runs, and 951 run, he stands as the first player to register three home runs, seven RBIs, and two stolen bases in a single game in the history of MLB.
Beyond his work as an athlete in the sport, he also co-owns the Lexington Legends, bringing his knowledge of the field into the business side of things. As he expands his portfolio, he only solidifies his reign as a hall of famer.
The athletic brilliance is most certainly in his genes, as his younger sister Porsha Phillips played in the WNBA for the San Antonio Silver Stars, while his younger brother P.J. Phillips serves as manager of the New Jersey Jackals.
How Did They Meet?
While it’s unknown exactly when the two wed, they’ve given detailed insight into how their love-at-first-sight meeting played out. The couple unknowingly shared a manager, passing directly by each other as Cargill ended her meeting and Philips was walking in to start his. Mesmerized by her, Philips questioned his manager about who she was and made it his mission to get in contact with her.
Since then, they’ve been loudly in love, supportive of each other’s endeavors and holding it down at home. Speaking on his marriage, Philips shared “I want her to have her own spotlight — it’s about her, it’s not about me. I’ve been in the spotlight since ’99, and right now, I’m just chilling with the kids, chilling with Jade, traveling the world with her.”
They’re a Power Couple
Fueled by the vigor to be the best, the couple has gone half on women’s softball team The Texas Smoke, as well as their 6-year-old daughter, Bailey Quinn. They plan to instill in her the same passion and work ethic that allowed them to climb to the top of their respective professions. Philips also brings daughter Micole and son Micah from previous relationships into the marriage, equipping them with a full house and a lot of love.
